Meet Cara Behan, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara, specializing in treating anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma. My approach is integrative and holistic, combining psychotherapy with yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices to help clients feel balanced in mind, body, and spirit. I have extensive experience working with children, families, and individuals facing severe mental health challenges, including at CALM Santa Barbara and Cottage Hospital’s inpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency unit. I am particularly passionate about empowering young women and supporting expecting/postpartum mothers in navigating life transitions.
In addition to my therapeutic work, I am a certified yoga teacher and have taught therapeutic yoga classes for mental health and addiction recovery for over ten years. I currently offer yoga & nature therapy groups for adults and kids, in schools and out in nature. I offer a supportive and compassionate space for you to explore and uncover what brings unease. We will work together and come up with a plan to help you thrive.
“As a therapist, my goal is to help you sift through the sands of life's adversities. Are you satisfied with your life's direction? How do you feel about where you are headed? I support one's self discovery in a compassionate way, identifying strengths and empowering clients struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, relationship problems and life transitions. I specialize in working with mothers and couples navigating the transitional stages of family life, including divorce and coparenting.”
