Cara Behan, LMFT
Meet Cara
Cara Behan, LMFT, is a Santa Barbara-based psychotherapist, executive coach, and somatic practitioner supporting individuals, couples, and families through life's transitions and biggest challenges. Her work blends traditional psychotherapy and executive coaching with somatic practice and psychedelic preparation and integration — meeting clients in the body as much as the mind, and helping them build the clarity and capacity to navigate change with more ease.
Cara holds a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#122460). She has trained extensively in psychedelic-assisted therapy, including MAPS MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy training and Inbodied Life's Ketamine & Psychedelic Psychotherapy program, and guides clients through preparation, integration, and the somatic work that supports lasting change from these experiences. She is currently on track to complete Fluence’s Pscilocybin Assisted Psychotherapy training for natural medicine facilitation in Colorado (2027).
A Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT) with over a decade of teaching experience, Cara has taught therapeutic yoga for mental health and chemical dependency patients at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, The Mental Wellness Center, and Cottage Residential Center — grounding her clinical and coaching work in a strong somatic foundation.
Beyond individual and executive coaching sessions, Cara offers teaching and consultation for clinicians and organizations, as well as intensives for couples and families — focused, extended-format work for those who want to move through a specific rupture or pattern more deeply than weekly sessions allow. Her family and relationship intensive work draws on clinical experience with children and families in crisis at CALM Santa Barbara and Cottage Hospital's psychiatric unit, and her longtime focus on supporting women through life's transitional stages, informed by Postpartum Support International's Perinatal Mood Disorders training.
Cara sees clients in person in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, virtually throughout California and Vermont, and offers coaching, consultation, teaching, and intensives nationally and internationally.
“As a therapist, my goal is to help you sift through the sands of life's adversities. I support one's self discovery in a compassionate way, identifying strengths and empowering clients on their own healing journey.
